8 June 2005 Iris, Jackson Harbor
(June 08, 2005)
This morning began with a meeting to review the site plan and discuss any areas that required further work. Reviewing the site plan, team members discussed specific site locations that needed attention, and then returned to the site to take final measurements and complete individual sketch maps.

Local commercial fisherman Jeff McDonald visited the site with his two sons Wayne and Conner. After discussing scow schooners with Keith Meverden, Russ Lietz took the trio on a tour of the site, by pointing out specific site details the team used to identify and evaluate the site.

Documenting the finishing touches
Finishing their individual sketch maps, team members returned to the light table to add their data and finalize the site plan. Once all sections were completed and finalized, the site plan (that was originally drawn in pencil) was inked in.

While some team members inked the site plan, two other groups worked on other projects. One group swam the debris field surrounding the wreck to locate and document hull structures that had drifted away from the main wreckage area. The third group worked to map the geographical area surrounding the wreck site using a total station survey system. This group mapped the piers surrounding the wreck, and began a sketch map of the Jackson Harbor area. Tomorrow, another group will finish the Jackson Harbor area map by surveying the shoreline, the wreck site, and the surrounding debris field with the total station.
