| Description: |
Spread out over a four-building connected complex which surround lush gardens and giant sculptures of fish, the National Freshwater Fishing Museum is a truly unique Wisconsin maritime attraction.
The highlight of the museum complex is a landmark 'Shrine to Anglers,' contained in a gargantuan concrete, steel and fiberglass hand-sculpted likeness of a leaping muskie. Stretching one-half city block long and four-and-a-half stories tall, the muskie is surrounded by a quarter-acre nature pond. Its gaping open jaw accommodates 20 persons or more as an observation platform looking out over the entire museum complex.
The adjacent four-building museum complex houses fishing artifacts with an inventory of over 5,000 dated lures, hundreds of antique rods, reels and angling accessories, over 300 antique and classic outboard motors, and more than 400 mounts of nearly 200 different species of fish.
The museum also houses a video theater which seats 35 people and shows constantly running, all-day movie shorts depicting the educational and instructional aspects of fishing and related subjects.
Please contact the museum for more information on exhibits and hours of operation.
